Business Group-Affiliation and Corporate Social Responsibility: Evidence from Listed Companies in China

Business groups have played a vital role in the development of emerging markets. However, we share very limited understanding business group that act on affiliated firms’ CSR performance. Using manually sorted data A-share listed companies and China from 2010–2017, examine whether company’s group-affiliation affects its corporate social responsibility (CSR) performance mediating mechanisms this association. Our empirical models show bear higher level compared to independent companies. This positive relationship between relies resource allocation through internal capital markets, rent-seeking initiatives, consideration reputation. Moreover, affiliation benefits firm’s employee’s responsibilities, consumers’ responsibilities environmental while significantly lower shareholders’ responsibilities. valuation companies’ levels can serve as benchmark for market implementing policies.
